SPOILER ALERT: The following reveals major plot points for tonight’s episode of NBC‘s Suits LA, Batman Returns.
NBC’s Suits LA welcomed back Gabriel Macht as the dapper Harvey Specter in tonight’s episode, which featured flashback scenes showing his early friendship with spinoff lead Ted Black (Stephen Amell).
Harvey and Ted were on a baseball team together as part of the prosecutors’ league: the former played shortstop and the latter was the pitcher. In the scene, Ted pitches the ball and accidentally hits the batter on the shoulder. Ted’s longtime friend Kevin (Troy Winbush) is also there, and he’s the unfortunate umpire supervising Ted and Harvey who are getting into a heated discussion over the sloppy pitch.
Ted reveals to Harvey that his game is off because he’s stressing Pellegrini’s unannounced visit to Eddie’s (Carson A. Egan) job at a diner, which left Ted’s brother nervous.
In the next flashback, Harvey and Ted are at a bar with Eddie to celebrate the team’s win, which will send them to the playoffs. Harvey orders three Macallan whiskeys but Ted is not fully on board with his brother drinking alcohol. Unfortunately for Ted, he is outnumbered. An excited Eddie liked Harvey’s pitch and is ready to sample “the smoothest drink he’ll ever taste.” In this instance, Ted knew best. Eddie was grossed out by the whiskey and yelled something harsh at Harvey but it was all in good fun.
Eddie disappears offscreen, leaving Harvey to spill tea about what he has learned about Pellegrini. The sleazy criminal has an inside man in Ted’s office. Ted wonders if he should be worried, but Harvey reassures him Pellegrini isn’t stupid enough to hurt Ted.
Whether that is true or not, it is yet to be revealed.
Macht will appear in two more episodes this season with his fellow Suits star Rick Hoffman due in for one episode that will, unfortunately, not coincide with any of Macht’s episodes.
