Instagram has chosen India and Korea to test the new interface that first displays the app’s reel page.
The company first unveiled a similar design when it launched its first iPad app earlier this month. The new interface has the story above, just like before, but the DM button is present in the central navigation bar and the reel tab moves to the second spot. You can swipe between these tabs to navigate.
The following tabs are placed next to the reel, providing three feed options: Posts from Mutua and “Friends” on Reels. Latest posts and “latest” on reels.
Instagram said the redesign has been tested by a limited number of people, but the company aims to expand globally.
In addition to the announcement last week that Instagram has surpassed 3 billion users per month, Meta said Monday that much of its growth is thanks to short videos re-shared across various platforms. That’s why we’re bringing more prominent reels and DMs to the app interface.
