Apple released iOS 26.2 Beta 1 last week, introducing several updates, including the option to customize the liquid glass appearance of the iPhone’s lock screen clock, the ability to set alarms within the Reminders app, and live translation functionality for users within the EU.
General availability of iOS 26.2 is scheduled for sometime in December.

The latest design for Apple devices, the liquid glass interface, is still undergoing changes. A recent update includes a slider that allows you to adjust the opacity of the clock that appears on your lock screen. This new feature allows users to make their watches almost completely transparent or give them a more cloudy look. You still have the option to turn off liquid glass completely.
Another change is the ability to set alarms for reminders. When creating a reminder, select a specific time and enable the “Urgent” option to trigger the alarm at that time. Many people requested this. This helps keep things on track and ensures that users don’t forget important tasks.

Last week, Apple also revealed that live translation on AirPods will be expanded to the EU as part of its iOS 26.2 rollout. When someone speaks to you in another language, Siri can provide a translation through your AirPods. The feature initially rolled out in the US and some other countries with iOS 26, but wasn’t available in the EU until iOS 26.2 because Apple needed additional time to ensure it met the requirements of the EU’s Digital Markets Law.

Additionally, the Apple News app now has a new “Following” tab in the bottom navigation bar that includes your favorites, saved stories, and history. Users will also find new buttons for easier access to topics such as food, politics, puzzles, and sports.
Apple Podcasts is also adding new features like AI-generated chapters for podcast episodes. There’s also a Podcast Mentions feature, so if a podcast host references another show during an episode, Apple Podcasts will automatically include a link to that show in the episode description.
Other features include offline lyrics support for Apple Music, which allows listeners to view song lyrics even when they’re not connected to Wi-Fi or a cellular network. Additionally, your iPhone’s screen will now flash when you receive a notification. This feature can be enabled in the Settings app under Accessibility.
