Deir al-Balah, Gaza Strip (AP) – Israel Ground and air strikes struck northern and southern Gaza on Monday, killing people seeking assistance as well as evacuating tents and homes for a wider campaign in the besieged territory.
Hospital officials reported at least 34 people died Monday as no journalists were included who were killed in a tent shortly before midnight.
Some of the dead called for the assistance of at least 12 people killed in Israeli shootings while trying to reach distribution points or while waiting for aid convoys.
The relative told the Associated Press that the victims included children and infants. Witnesses in a shootout near Morag Corridor said they saw the bullet and subsequent corpses barrage, describing Grimmsheen as an almost day-long event.
The military did not immediately answer questions about death. He said early Monday that air and artillery services were being run in northern Gaza and Khan Yunis. There, resident Noha Abu Shamara told the Associated Press that two drone strikes killed seven families in their apartment.
According to Nasser and AWDA hospitals, those seeking assistance were killed from three kilometers (nearly two miles) to just a few hundred meters (yards) from a site run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.
The GHF is a US- and Israel-backed private contractor, replacing the United Nations in May as the territorial primary aid distributor. He said he was unaware of the incident in the Israeli-controlled security zone.
The latest deaths have increased casualties to those who died while seeking food since the launch of a new aid distribution system in May, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health. Most were shot along the route to distribution sites, but in recent weeks they were killed more near the food convoy delivered by the UN.
UN agencies generally did not accept Israeli military escorts for aid trucks, citing concerns about neutrality, and their fleets were fired amid severe food shortages in blockaded territory.
The death comes hours after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called a report on Gaza’s conditions a “global campaign of lies” and announced plans to move deeper into the territory and promote Hamas to dismantle Hamas. Speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss the sensitive issue, officials said surgery was not expected to begin anytime soon and would take quite a while to scale up.
Five more Palestinians, including children, have died in Gaza in the past 24 hours of malnutrition-related causes, the Ministry of Health said.
Israel increased its supply flow two weeks ago amid such concerns. Still, international experts warn that the territory is facing “the worst-case scenario of hunger,” and aid groups say delivery remains part of what is needed a few months after the total and partial lockdown.
Australia moves to recognize the Palestinian state
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Monday Added his country to the list Move towards recognition France, England, Canada. He said his government’s decision was aimed at building momentum towards a solution for the two states. This was called the best path to end violence outside Hamas and bringing leadership.
“The situation in Gaza exceeds the worst fears of the world,” he said. “The Israeli government continues to ignore international law and deny adequate assistance, food and water to hopeless people, including children.”

Officials at Shifa Hospital said those killed included Al Jazeera correspondents Anas Al-Sharif and Mohamed Qreiqeh. The incident was marked for the first time during the war, where Israeli military quickly claimed responsibility after journalists were killed on strike.
It’s less than a year since Israeli Army officials first accused Al-Sharif and other Al-Jazeira journalists of being members of extremist groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad.
Al Jazeera called the strike a “targeted assassination,” and Press Freedom Group has denounced the rising death toll facing Palestinian journalists working in Gaza. The mourners lay the journalists to rest in Gaza city.
Israel reiterated its claim on Sunday that Al-Sharif led the Hamas cell. It was previously dismissed as a basis.
Hamas-led militants lured 251 people and on October 7, 2023 killed about 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and launched a war-raising attack. Most of the hostages have been released in ceasefires and other transactions, but 50 remained within Gaza, of which around 20 believed Israel was alive.

The ministry is part of the Hamas-run government and is staffed by medical professionals. The United Nations and independent experts consider it the most reliable source of information on victims of war. Israel disputes the figures, but does not provide its own.
