Anthony Mackie is set to reprise his superhero role in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.
The actor most recently played Sam Wilson in Captain America: Brave New World, and in a new interview, teased the Marvel movie.
“We’re supposed to go out this week and we’ll be out there doing it. Everybody’s excited. I feel with the script and having the Russo brothers back, it’s going to be great,” Mackie said in an interview with IGN.
The actor added, “I’m really excited for what this project is going to be. It’s going to give the audience that old Marvel feeling that they always had.”
Actors confirmed for the next Avengers film include Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Vanessa Kirby (Susan Storm), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), and Florence Pugh (Yelena).
Avengers: Doomsday, which is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026, will also see the X-Men join the team for the first time. Actors who will reprise their role include Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier / Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), James Marsden (Cyclops), and Kelsey Grammer (Beast).

Mackie joined the MCU as Sam Wilson (Falcon) in 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. He would reprise his role in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, 2015’s Ant-Man, 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, and in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.
At the end of the last Avengers film, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) passes on his Captain America shield to Mackie’s Sam Wilson. Mackie took on the role on the big screen for Captain America: Brave New World in 2025.

Mackie also starred as Sam Wilson in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
