Coming off his buzzy starring turn on Season 1 of Hulu’s Paradise, James Marsden has been tapped for a lead role opposite Jon Hamm, Amanda Peet and Olivia Munn in Season 2 of Apple TV+s drama series Your Friends & Neighbors. He will be a series regular on the new season, which has started production.
As Deadline reported exclusively, Apple TV+ in December renewed Your Friends & Neighbors ahead of the series premiere this past Friday, April 11.
Created by Jonathan Tropper, Your Friends & Neighbors centers on Andrew “Coop” Cooper (Hamm), a hedge fund manager still grappling with his recent divorce who resorts to stealing from the homes of his neighbors in the exceedingly affluent Westmont Village, only to discover that the secrets and affairs hidden behind those wealthy facades might be more dangerous than he ever imagined.
Marsden is believed to be playing a guy who comes from money and has a relationship with Samantha (Munn).
Just like was the case with his two most recent series, Jury Duty, which earned him an Emmy nomination, and Paradise, I hear Marsden’s role on Your Friends & Neighbors is season-long.
In addition to Hamm, Peet and Munn, he is joining fellow series regulars Hoon Lee, Mark Tallman, Lena Hall, Aimee Carrero, Eunice Bae, Isabel Gravitt and Donovan Colan.
From Apple Studios and produced by Tropper Ink, Your Friends & Neighbors is executive produced by Tropper, who serves as showrunner. Additionally, Hamm executive produces alongside Connie Tavel and Craig Gillespie. Season two will also be executive produced by Jamie Rosengard, Lori Keith Douglas and Stephanie Laing.
Marsden is currently filming Avengers: Doomsday, set for release May 1, 2026. He recently wrapped production on 20th Century’s Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice opposite Vince Vaughn, a buddy action comedy set in the criminal underworld. In addition to his work on Paradise and Jury Duty, he recently reprised the role of Tom in Sonic the Hedgehog 3. He’s repped by CAA and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
