EXCLUSIVE: Jeffrey Scott Collins has wrapped upcoming UK horror film The Cage, starring Tamzin Merchant (Carnival Row), Edmund Kingsley (Dirty Angels), Raffiella Chapman (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children) and unveiled investment in his production company This Seems Reel Entertainment.
The film, which was launched on the market at this year’s EFM, is inspired by true events. It follows a family that is terrorized by a dark presence after they move into a quaint cottage, and discover it lies on the site of a medieval prison which once housed women accused of witchcraft.
In other news as the feature enters post-production, Collins has announced a substantial equity investment into his production company This Seems Reel Entertainment.
It involves a group of investors, including seasoned business executive and investor Nicole Daya in her first foray into the film industry.
She described Collins as “a talented filmmaker whose creative vision and sharp wit align with my passion for bringing compelling stories to life.”
The investment will be plowed into the development of the company’s growing slate of film, TV, book, and commercial projects.
“I am thrilled to welcome Nicole, and our entire group of our investors, to This Seems Reel Entertainment,” said Collins.
“We all share similar creative sensibilities and have a unified vision for the future of the company. We can’t wait to continue telling entertaining, thought provoking, and character driven stories like the ones we grew up watching”
In a further development for This Seems Reel Entertainment, Cory Levin has joined as Head of Development.
He previously collaborated with Collins on his breakout comedy Poor Greg Drowning as well as his upcoming dark heist comedy thriller Above the Line and The Caged. Levin also has several other feature and TV projects in development with Collins.
“Since I first met Cory at UCLA film school, I have always been impressed by his impeccable taste in material and tireless work ethic. He is a tremendous producer and I couldn’t be more excited to officially have him on the team,” said Collins.
Collins is repped by Rewind and Sloss Eckhouse Haynes LawCo.
