Like many parents, Joan Naganes struggles to watch their children leave the nest.
The fixer upper star detailed her emotional journey while preparing to return to her third year with Ella, 18, of her oldest daughter, Drake, of her freshman year and her oldest son, Drake.
“My eldest son left in his third year in college, but my eldest son is packed into her first year across the country,” she wrote on Instagram on August 11th along with a photo of the moving box. “This season already feels like a big, breathtaking surrender. Lord, how can you let them go and get them closer?”
And while Joanna isn’t a Nestor of the Sky yet, she shares her child Duke (17, 15), a 7-year-old crew with her 22-year-old husband, who shares what she’s still struggling with.
“They told me they would go earlier than I thought. The days are slower, but the years are faster. And if they’re right, I’m afraid of that,” she wrote. “This beautiful gift passed us all, as I was told.”
