‘Just In Time’ Starring Jonathan Groff Moves Broadway Opening Night

-

The official opening night for Just In Time, the new Bobby Darin musical starring Jonathan Groff, will move Wednesday, April 23, to Saturday, April 26 at Broadway’s Circle in the Square Theatre.

An opening celebration will remain on April 23, while an additional performance has been scheduled for Thursday, April 24.

Although no explanation was given in the date-change announcement, the switch will no doubt give the production a few more pre-opening performances to settle into the Circle in the Square in-the-round venue that’s being transformed into the sort of nightclub setting where Darin so often performed.

The move also gives critics and other first-nighters a bit of a break: The busy month of April openings is especially busy the week starting Monday, April 21. In its earlier April 23 slot, Just In Time would have been third in a string of four consecutive openings: Floyd Collins opens April 21, Stranger Things: The First Shadow opens April 22 and Pirates: The Penzance Musical opens April 24. Just In Time‘s move to April 26 gives all concerned at least a little breathing room.

But just a little. Both Dead Outlaw and Real Women Have Curves open Sunday, April 27, the last of this season’s Broadway openings.
