Washington (AP) – Former Justice Department attorney accused Throw a sandwich The federal agent in the country’s capital – a conflict captured on viral video – pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor assault on Wednesday.
Prosecutors charged Sean Charles Dunn with a misdemeanor after the large ju trial refused to indict him on felony charges.
Dan’s ju trial is scheduled to begin on November 3rd. Dan did not speak to reporters when he left court. His lawyer, Sabrina Shroff, declined to comment on the case.
Videos from bystanders filmed Dan threw a “sub-style” sandwich at customs and border protection agents on the night of August 10, a court filing said.
As the video spread across the internet, the White House promoted Dan’s arrest on social media. However, the image of Dan throwing a sandwich also became a symbol of protest.
Since the surgery began on August 7th, more than 2,000 people have been arrested on surge-related charges. More than 50 people, including Dan, were charged in district court. Prosecutors have already asked the court to dismiss eight of those cases, including charges against two people accused of being blackmailed to kill Trump.
It is very rare for federal ju judges to acknowledge by returning charges, but that has happened at least eight times in six cases since the Trump surge a month ago.
Dunn, 37, of Washington, was an international affairs expert in the Department of Justice’s criminal division, but Attorney General Pam Bondy said he was fired after being arrested on felony assault charges.
At about 11pm on August 10th, Dan approached a group of CBP agents, pointing his fingers in the agent’s face to vow him, calling him a “fascist,” the police affidavit says. According to the affidavit, the observer video filmed Dan by throwing a sandwich into the agent’s chest.
“Why are you here? I don’t want you in my town!” cried Dan, police.
Dan tried to escape but was arrested, police said.
Dan’s case is assigned to US district judge Carl Nichols, who Trump appointed for his first term in the White House.
