Korean actor Song Young-kyu, who starred in the 2019 box office hit, Extreme Job, was found dead on Monday.
Song was discovered by an acquaintance inside a car in a residential complex in Yongin, just south of Seoul, around 8 a.m., according to police and local reports.
In June this year, Song was caught in a drunk driving incident in Yongin, with a blood alcohol concentration level above the legal threshold for license revocation.
The case had been forwarded to prosecutors and was awaiting indictment.
After the incident, Song was dropped from two dramas currently in production — The Defects and SBS’ The Winning Try, as well as the stage play “Shakespeare in Love.”
Song made his onscreen debut in 1994, and has appeared in more than 40 television dramas and numerous films across three decades.
Song also starred in Hwarang, Netflix’s Narco-Saints and Disney+’s Big Bet.
He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
