MILANO (AP) – Models descended the emergency escape stairs to access the Frances Cariberatore runway during Milan Fashion Week on Sunday.
Riveratore comes to the runway with an artistic sensibility, but due to global turmoil, she says she doesn’t want to turn her Spring/Summer 2026 collection into a warm weather story.
Instead, she expressed her concerns through staging and soundtracks, featuring two terrifying tears: “Everyone Wants to Dominate the World” and “Mad World”, and “Mad World”, sung by Italian singer Elisa.
Accurate tailoring in a chaotic era
Liberatore said she wanted to contribute to the conversation by presenting a collection using a very specific fashion language. The result was clearly a wearable and youthful look.
“Everyone who lives in a golden world needs to open their eyes. …We need to stop and be careful about this situation,” she said behind the scenes.
In honor of chaos, Riveratore approached fashion with precise codes. The show began with a series of tailored white jackets in gorgeous, textured fabrics. The silhouette was loosened with a protectively wrapped body before flowing into a long A-line skirt. The relaxed tunic fell on top of the skirt, while the strappy sundress was wide and loose, with a rich layer of brocade peeking out through the hem.
The looks were finished with headphones in collaboration with Sony, connecting with a younger audience.
Flower gesture
The final model was brought with it a black rose placed at the foot of the podium in the photo.
Riveratore wanted to assign his meaning to the audience. But for that, it was a combination of ongoing distress over the war and the crisis of the luxury sector as it was unable to connect with the younger generation.
The flower gesture was also a homage to lateness Giorgio Armani, The person who posted Milan on the global fashion map.
Riveratore and Armani have long been pinning the final day of Milan Fashion Week. A few weeks after his death at age 91, a gala show will be held at Brera Art Gallery, celebrating his 50 years as a designer.
