Lionsgate’s TV production team is making some changes.
Gary Goodman, who was EVP, Worldwide Production at The Studio producer, is retiring and Joel Meyer is being promoted in his place.
Goodman, who struck a multi-year deal with the company less than a year ago, has been with Lionsgate for 18 years and has worked on series including Mad Men, Orange is the New Black, Weeds, Nurse Jackie, Nashville, the Power franchise as well as newer shows such as BMF, P-Valley, The Serpent Queen, The Studio, Mythic Quest, Acapulco and John Wick prequel series The Continental.
Meyer, who has been with the company for ten years, is now becoming EVP, Worldwide Production for Lionsgate Television and will oversee its east coast production facilities in Yonkers, NY, Atlanta, GA and Newark, NJ. He will oversee production on all scripted series.
Prior to joining Lionsgate, he was a producer for ABC Family, working on series such as Switched at Birth, Jane By Design and Chasing Life.
“We’re pleased to promote Joel Meyer, a talented executive from within our ranks. He has led the charge on many key series while navigating the pandemic and the strikes, and his leadership and dedication will be critical to moving our Television Group forward,” said Lionsgate Television Group Chair & Chief Creative Officer Kevin Beggs and Vice Chairman Sandra Stern. “We are grateful for Gary Goodman’s nearly 20 years of outstanding service to Lionsgate, and we wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
