Reports say the Liverpool star departing to join the European giant is considered “certain” because he has “open secrets” about his future.
Liverpool has a dream summer transfer window as it is the largest spending club in Europe, investing around £415 million in overhaulsing key teams.
Arne Slot’s side landed most of the top targets as they landed Alexander Isaac, Florian Wiltz, Hugo Ekitique, Jeremy Fripon and Milos Kerkes.
The exits for Louis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Jarrell Quanza and Harvey Elliott raised the funds, but they’re still short at centre-backs.
Liverpool signed Giovanni Leoni in the summer, but they have problems if Virgil van Dik and Ibrahima Conate are injured after missing Mark Guech on the deadline while Crystal Palace failed to land a suitable replacement.

Liverpool also risks losing Connath in January or next summer. He is the final year of his contract and is one of the most valuable footballers who could become a free agent in 2026.
Earlier this week, Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that there is currently “no agreement” between Konate and Liverpool on the new deal, but the transition to Real Madrid depends on one factor.
“So, there’s still a conversation going on about a new deal between Liverpool, Conate and Liverpool, but there’s no agreement at this stage,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.
“That’s not easy. That story really had many different moments. It was so close in October and November last year, so the contract extension was very close orally and there was a final clause.
“The game was then changed around December and January. New discussions about the contract and no contract. We spent the last six, eight and nine months without agreement between the parties.”

He added: “What about Real Madrid? Conate is certainly on Real Madrid’s list. Certainly he is one of their favorite players, and certainly he is one of the players he wants to bring in in 2026.
“But this only happens if Conate doesn’t extend his contract with Liverpool.”
Liverpool is faced with a recurring situation with Trent Alexander Arnold, where Conate and Spanish outlet Marca claim Real Madrid’s “interest” is a “open secret.”
It is also claimed that Liverpool has already admitted defeat behind the scenes, as Conate to Real Madrid is considered “certainty.”
The report claims:
“He’s settled just as he learned a few weeks ago that Real Madrid was considering an unfinished move for the possibility of a transfer in the summer transfer window. Liverpool again submitted an attempt at approach, but the defender was denied.
“At Anfield, they consider his departure to be a sure thing, and in fact, the English club has strengthened its presence in that position to minimize the departure of players that have remained essential to slot planning.
