Newcastle United have agreed to a contract from Southampton to sign England goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
Ramsdale was demoted at Southampton last season after moving from Arsenal for around £25 million.
The goalkeeper is eager to play in the Premier League again after his third career relegation from the top flight, and looks like he’ll be given a big chance at St. James Park.
Newcastle competed in the Champions League through a fifth-place finish in the league. This was when Ramsdale supported Arsenal’s qualifying round in 2022/23, but only played once in the competition the following season after Mikel Arteta signed David Raya from Brentford.
The 27-year-old Magpie’s interest was first reported by David Ornstein on Monday, but they were strongly tied to the South Coast before their move.

England International played for Howe at Bournemouth early in his career, pushing for the reunion by submitting a loan offer that included purchase options.
Ornstein reported Tuesday evening that Ramsdale was in Newcastle on loan for the season and that he had reached a contract.
Geordies pays “a substantial loan fee,” the transaction includes purchase options, and Ex-Sheffield United Shot-Stopper is given a “permission” from Southampton and travels for medical care.

It was a rough transfer window for Newcastle, who was hit after the blow, before star player Alexander Isaac rubbed salt into the wound by asking him to leave the club.
Swedish International is expected to join Liverpool. Liverpool’s ambitious transfer window has been made possible by a long-standing sensible transfer business, combined with success on the pitch and consistently high revenues from sponsorship and other commercial revenue streams.
Isaac wants to explore new adventures, so Newcastle is looking at RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesco as an alternative, but Manchester United is also enthusiastic.
The missed Sesco could be the last straw for fans who are extremely disappointed to see the Slovenians join the team that finished 15th in the Premier League last season.
Newcastle is believed to be worth more than £120 million, but their stance is hardly strengthened by the players’ desire to leave.
Liverpool is reportedly shut down to Luis Diaz’s £65 million sale to Bayern Munich.
Isak scored an impressive 54 goals in his Premier League appearance and was able to join Florian Wiltz and Hugo Ekitique teammates at Anfield.
