Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim claims he hopes Kobbie Mainoo will “stay” at Old Trafford and “fight for his place” this season.
Mainoo has linked to a potential move away from Man UTD for much of the summer, but after being ruled out from the first two Premier League matches, Talk spiked about his future.
England International got off to a start with Grimsbytown in the League Cup, but the League 2 teams won a penalty to humiliate Amorim’s side.
Mainoo was reportedly asked to be allowed to pursue loan moves from Man Utd this summer.
In response to speculation about Mainoo’s future, Amorim said at a pre-match press conference:
“I understand that players who don’t play are disappointed, but everyone will have the same opportunity. You have to compete that week.”

“This is my way of doing things and I’m going to be that way. And at that moment I felt very annoyed and irritated. And again I know there are a lot of experienced people talking about how I play in the media.
Amorim added: “If you want to stop, you sometimes want to be here for 20 years. Sometimes you like being with the players.
