A pundit has explained why Manchester United should avoid signing Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton, claiming the Red Devils “don’t need” him.
Wharton has emerged as one of the best young midfielders in the Premier League and has been linked with a potential move to Man United next year.
In the summer, the Red Devils focused on overhauling their attack with the acquisitions of Benjamin Sesco, Brian Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, while also signing Senne Lamence as their new No. 1 goalkeeper.
Manchester United’s next transfer priority will be signing a new central midfielder as Casemiro needs an upgrade. It has been suggested that Wharton’s transfer fee next year could be as little as £60m, but Palace will likely demand closer to £100m.
Although Wharton has immense natural ability and can play for any team in the world, former Man United player Paul Parker believes that Wharton is injury-prone and that his former club “doesn’t need” him.
“Adam Wharton is good looking. I like everything he does,” Parker told MyBettingSites.

“At the moment we are playing in a progressive team. We have a lot of injuries. We always have something going on, but a lot of clubs who keep paying us don’t seem to care about that.”
“At the moment United don’t need a player like him who can’t play two or three games without getting a knock.
“Adam Wharton has done fantastically. He came from Blackburn and gave it his all. Why didn’t someone else sign him? You have to give Crystal Palace a pat on the back for that, the money they spent and the way he performed.
“Big clubs want to spend more money on players who can sell shirts. I’m sure Adam Wharton would have wanted to come to Man United.”
Parker also explained why he believes Crystal Palace will refuse to sell Wharton in January.
“But if you’re Crystal Palace, you can’t sell it,” Parker added.

“Unless it’s really, really stupid money and the fans can relate to it. They’ll look at the profit margin and think, wow.
“The way things are at Crystal Palace at the moment, we could fill that spot and no one would notice, because no one would realize that we lost two of our best players of the last three seasons in Eze and Oliseh.”
England international Elliott Anderson has been named as a potential replacement, with Parker claiming Man United are more likely to sign him than Wharton in January.
“Elliott Anderson has done well for Nottingham and is currently being tipped to start for England, but that’s because we don’t have Jude Bellingham to speak of,” Parker insisted.
“So everyone is going to be talking about Anderson because he is an England player and his name has come up. Man United need a player with that discipline and good feet in that midfield.”
“Nottingham Forest are in that position now. With Nuno gone and the situation changed, we don’t know what will happen in January.”
