Manchester United have made a ‘major U-turn’, with manager Fabrizio Romano giving an update on Marcus Rashford, according to reports.
There has been a lot of turmoil at Man United in recent months as the team undergoes a major overhaul following last season’s 15th place finish in the Premier League.
It has also been pointed out that although he is not the frontrunner to become the next Premier League manager when manager Ruben Amorim is sacked, he could lose his job.
Optimism is growing for Man United following back-to-back wins against Sunderland and Liverpool in the Premier League. That’s because his summer signing has had a positive impact on his recent games.
United are more dangerous in attack with Brian Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesco, but Senne Lamence proves a clear upgrade over Andre Onana.
It was suggested in the summer that Amorim wanted Man United to sign Aston Villa star Emiliano Martinez, but a new report from Football Insider claims that Amorim and the club have “made a major transfer U-turn” after the head coach was “persuaded” by Ramence.

Former Premier League chief scout Mick Brown claims they still have “very good connections within the game” and that Lamence has “persuaded” Amorim that he “deserves to be first-choice goalkeeper” at Old Trafford.
“Lamence has done everything we’ve ever been asked to do,” Brown told Football Insider.
“He comes in and demands crosses to take the pressure off the defenders, he looks safe when he has the ball and he never looks like he’s going to spill the ball.
“It’s only been two games but these were big games. There’s nothing bigger than winning away against Liverpool, so he’s got a bottle too.”
“The confidence he shows rubs off on the other players too. I think he’s done a great job and from a Man United point of view they’re very happy.”
“It looks to me like he has solved what has been a big problem for Man United in recent years.
“From all appearances, he is likely to remain in goal as he has won the manager’s heart and convinced him that he deserves to be first-choice goalkeeper. This means they won’t have to scramble to find a new goalkeeper in the transfer market as they had planned, and can instead focus elsewhere.”

Rashford’s summer departure raised funds and allowed Man United to sign Lamence and others, but the England international has been in excellent form for Barcelona this season.
Barcelona signed Rashford on loan with an option to buy in 2026 after failing to sign Luis Diaz and Nico Williams in the summer, a decision that is now paying off.
Rashford has scored five goals and provided six assists in 12 games in all competitions for Barcelona, and Romano admitted he is “sending a very clear message” about his future.
Romano said on his YouTube channel: “Rashford is doing great at Barcelona. Rashford is sending a very clear message.”
“His desire to become a Barcelona player has been going on since January 2025. In the January period, almost a year ago, a deal could not materialize because Ansu Fati did not want to leave the club in January and Barcelona did not have the space to register and sign Rashford.”
“And in the summer, Ansu Fati accepted the possibility of leaving Barcelona and went to Monaco, and Barcelona had space to sign Rashford, completing the move on a loan deal with a €30 million buy option clause.”
“At the moment Rashford is showing great performances, he has already reached 10 goal contributions in terms of goals and assists, he has done very well in the Champions League and he can play both as a striker and as a winger. You can see how comfortable Rashford is at Barcelona.”
“We’ve been saying this for weeks now, but the feeling inside Barça is that Rashford fits really perfectly into Barcelona’s tactical structure. They’re also very happy with all the relationships that Rashford has with his team-mates.”
