“It’s easy to talk about forgiveness and mercy when it’s not your loss.” So begins a new trailer for Task, HBO‘s upcoming drama series from Mare of Easttown creator Brad Ingelsby. The seven-episode series premieres Sunday, Sept. 7 at 9 pm on HBO and will stream next day on HBO Max.
Set to Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here”, the trailer sees Mark Ruffalo‘s Tom, an FBI agent in action as he’s put in charge of a task force to find the perpetrators of a string of violent home invasion robberies led by an unsuspecting family man (Tom Pelphrey).
“I’m gonna take their money so we can have a better life,” says Pelphrey’s Robbie. ‘When we’re too deep into something, we just can’t see what others see,” he adds.
“We need to find this crew before a turf war escalates,” warns FBI supervisory senior resident Kathleen McGinty (Martha Plimpton).
Cast also includes Emilia Jones, Jamie McShane, Sam Keeley, Thuso Mbedu, Fabien Frankel, Alison Oliver, Raúl Castillo, Silvia Dionicio and Phoebe Fox.
Similar to Mare of Easttown, Task is set in the working class suburbs of Philadelphia and is based on an original idea by Ingelsby who serves as creator/writer/showrunner and executive producer. Jeremiah Zagar and Salli Richardson-Whitfield direct and executive produce. Additionally, Mark Roybal and Paul Lee executive produce for wiip, along with Ruffalo; David Crockett and Ron Schmidt. Nicole Jordan-Webber and Jeremy Yaches serve as co-executive producers for Public Record.
