Arsenal legend Paul Mason claims that Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta is “a much better player” than Man UTD’s striker Benjamin Sesco.
The Red Devils have invested more than £200 million in new players over the summer, with Sesco, Brian Mbemo, Matthews Cunha, Diego Leon and Sen Ranmen all taking part in the event.
However, these new additions have not had a desirable impact as these new additions will be 14th in the Premier League table after the first six fixtures of the season.
Reuben Amorim has already been under pressure this season after struggling to finish 15th last year, with Sesco just scoring the club’s first goal in a 3-1 loss to Brentford over the weekend.
Sesko arrived from RB Leipzig in a massive deal worth £74 million. MersonManUtd believes it would be better to sign a £11 million Crystal Palace from Bundesliga Side Mainz in 2022.
Merson said in The Good, The Bad & The Football Podcast:

“He’s playing two players behind him (Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo) from the cuff.
“Last season, on the day of the transfer deadline, I said Man United needed someone like Jean Philippe Mateta.
“But they’re not going to buy him because he plays at Crystal Palace. He’s not fashionable enough.
“But he’s a much better player than Sesco. And he does it in the week of the Premier League. As a player, you love your team’s mateta.”

Man Utd Legend Wayne Rooney is concerned that the Red Devils are on the same path they have stomped over for years, as they “don’t see what they’re giving them confidence.”
Rooney said on his BBC podcast: “I haven’t seen anything that gives me confidence, and there needs to be a big change in my opinion.
“Manager, players, whatever it is. Anything needed to get Manchester United back. You need a clear message from the owner.
“I need a message of whether it’s Glaser (minority owner) Ir Jim Ratcliffe, where this club is heading, and at the moment, I’m sitting there waiting to collapse.
“The culture of that football club is gone. I watch it every day. I see staff members losing their jobs.
“That football club has two kids (at the academy) and I really hope this doesn’t affect what they’re doing. What you’re seeing at that football club is not Manchester United.”
