Paul Merson has asked Man United manager Ruben Amorim to omit Mason Mount for the next Premier League game against Brighton at the weekend.
Just a few weeks ago there was speculation that Amorim might be sacked, but Manchester United have now won back-to-back Premier League titles for the first time in Amorim’s tenure.
An impressive 2-1 win against Liverpool at Anfield at the weekend gave supporters renewed optimism that Amorim can finally deliver continued good results for the team.
A home game against Brighton and an away game against struggling Nottingham Forest will be a good opportunity to see if Amorim’s side have truly turned the corner.
Manchester United are one point ahead of Brighton in the Premier League table and Melson believes Benjamin Sesco, who has scored two goals in nine games in all competitions, should play against the Seagulls at Mount Over.
“Manchester United did very well against Liverpool. They have won three of their last four games, but it will be a very tricky game for Ruben Amorim’s team,” Melson told Sportkeeda.

“Brighton won this game easily at Old Trafford last season. The jury is still out on Manchester United. It would be a great result if they win this game.”
“Amorim made a bold decision to put Benjamin Sesco on the bench against Liverpool, and it paid off very well for him.
“But unlike Liverpool, Brighton may decide to sit deep in this game, so I don’t think he’ll do it again.
“So we don’t know how effective Matheus Cunha will be in drawing defenders out of position like he did against Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate.
“I know Amorim really likes Mason Mount, but it would be a shock if Sesco didn’t play because this game really suits a big forward.
“I don’t think Manchester United will win this game. We’re aiming for a 1-1 draw here.”

Former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer echoed Merson’s prediction that Manchester United will have to settle for a draw against Brighton on Saturday.
Shearer told the Metro newspaper: “It’s hard to judge. Manchester United did a great job at Liverpool last weekend and it’s no surprise that Brighton beat Newcastle.”
“Brighton are a good team, they create chances and look very well organised. We’ll be aiming for a draw in this game. It might not be a bad result for both clubs.”
“Prediction – Draw”
