Today’s Meta Connect Developer Conference was primarily about new smart glasses, but the social networking company announced a small number of metaverse updates during its keynote address on Wednesday. One of these was the introduction of Hyperscape, which first demonstrated at last year’s event.
The company has announced that HyperScape Capture is being deployed in early access. This means that quest device owners can scan the room in minutes and turn it into an immersive, photorealistic world like a digital replica of real-world spaces.
The capture process itself only takes a few minutes, but rendering the room actually takes several hours, Meta says.
At launch, users cannot invite others into the digital space, but the feature is supported in time through private links.

However, the technology has already been used to render the world of feature hyperscapes, including Gordon Ramsay’s home kitchen in LA, House of Kick, the UFC apex Octagon in Las Vegas, and Happy Kelly’s room filled with Crocs’ shoe collection.
Meta first demonstrated Hyperscape at Connect Conference last year, showing how to use Gauss’ splatting, crowd-rendering and streaming to bring the digital world to the Meta Quest 3 headset. Now it’s deploying it to users over 18 years old. He has quest 3 or quest 3.
The rollout will be gradually starting today, so not all users will see it immediately.
