EXCLUSIVE: House of the Dragon and Supergirl actress Milly Alcock will star in Daina Oniunas-Pusić’s dark comedy Thumb.
The project, which was written by Cesar Vitale, winner of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting, follows a lonely young woman (Alcock) who mistakenly receives a severed thumb in the mail. She makes it her life’s obsession to return it to the hand it once belonged to, putting her on a collision course that will upend her world forever.
Oscar winner Akiva Goldsman and Greg Lessans will produce for Weed Road and Richard Saperstein, Brooke Saperstein, Beau Turpin and Annie Saperstein will produce for Bluestone Entertainment. Cameras roll this fall in New York.

Alcock, broke out in the 2022 record-breaking HBO fantasy series House of the Dragon and most recently starred opposite Julianne Moore and Meghann Fahy in Netflix’s hit limited series Sirens. Her next movie, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow from director Craig Gillespie and DC studios, will hit theaters on June 26, 2026. On stage, the actress starred in the West End transfer of the Olivier nominated production of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible.
Pusić is a Croatian writer and director who made her first debut feature in 2023 with Tuesday, starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Arinze Kene and Lola Petticrew, which premiered at Telluride. Daina is behind short films including The Beast, which premiered at the Telluride Film Festival, and Rhonna & Donna, which screened at multiple festivals including Telluride and Aesthetica, where it won the inaugural Best Screenplay Award.
Vitale has twice made the Blacklist, including with his script The Great Nothing which also won the Academy Nicholl Fellowship. His latest produced feature film Girl Haunts Boy made Netflix’s Top Ten in its release weekend and he is currently working on a number of active projects with Weed Road Pictures, Laika Animation, Boulderlight, and Roth/Kirschenbaum Films.

Bluestone Entertainment and Weed Road Pictures are also developing Basketful of Heads, a darkly comedic horror comic series published by DC’s Hill House, with Natasha Lyonne attached to star. Ana Lily Amirpour will adapt and direct the feature.
