Netflix has rolled out a new TV experience for kids profiles on its service globally, the company confirmed to TechCrunch on Tuesday. The update aims to simplify design and navigation, and is the company’s latest effort to quickly connect users to their favorite content.
In May, Netflix introduced a similar redesign of its TV homepage for standard profiles, adding AI-powered search tools, better recommendations, cleaner shortcuts, and more.
Now, the company says the same update is also rolling out to children’s profiles, along with other tweaks aimed specifically at Netflix’s youngest users.
The new design simplifies the look and feel of the home page. There’s also a new navigation bar at the top that links to “My Netflix.” This section has everything kids watch, save, and like all in one place. This allows users to easily access their favorite content. Young users often rewatch popular movies and episodes.
Additionally, Netflix says recommendations for kids will be updated in real time, just like standard profiles. The company hopes this will reduce the amount of time children spend searching for what they want to watch.
However, some parts of your child’s profile will remain unchanged. Character themed rows, mystery box suggestions, and parental controls are still available.
Netflix also announced other updates to Netflix today, including features such as real-time voting, live party games, podcasts, and more. Next year, for example, Netflix plans to launch real-time voting on its upcoming show “Star Search,” after testing it on “Dinner Time Live with David Chang.”
The company says the new user interface is related to these changes because it provides a more flexible canvas for different types of creative content, including interactive content.
