Ms. Rachel, who has over 16M subscribers to her YouTube channel, caused a stir for little kids and parents earlier this year when she launched a number of episodes on Netflix.
The streamer has now set a date for more episodes.
It has also dated its launch of Sesame Street after striking a deal for the iconic PBS children’s series earlier this year.
Netflix is launching Season 2 of Ms. Rachel on September 1. It comes just over eight months after the first four episodes, which were a compilation of episodes that she had previously streamed on YouTube, launched on the service.
The show is the creation of educator Rachel Accurso, who has been described by some parents as their children’s Mister Rogers. Per Netflix, she is a “beloved and passionate educator whose videos for her phenomenally popular YouTube channel inspire “littles” and their families to learn and bond together”, who incorporates singing, dancing and play to help children learn how to talk and express themselves and their emotions
It’s not clear whether the second season of Ms. Rachel will feature episodes that have previously aired on YouTube or will be exclusive episodes.
The show has appeared in Netflix’s global top 10 for 22 weeks and launched at number five in its charts in January with 4M views and 12.1M hours viewed. It was only behind series such as two seasons of The Night Agent and The Recruit, as well as American Manhunt: O.J. Simpson.
Meanwhile, Sesame Street will launch on Netflix on November 10.
Sesame Street will debut its reimagined 56th season, plus 90 hours of previous episode. Netflix is coming on board after HBO Max opted not to renew its Sesame Street streaming deal at the end of last year.
The new episodes, which will now each center on one 11-minute story, will be available same day-and-date in the U.S. on PBS stations and PBS Kids digital platforms, maintaining U.S. kids’ free access to early learning, which Sesame Street is all about. That is a departure from Netflix’s typical push for exclusivity unless a second window on a library title is involved.
