Manchester United legend Gary Neville has set a goal for his former club that if he can maintain his “consistency” this season, he is “definitely going to get him”.
The Red Devils have improved under head coach Ruben Amorim at the start of this season, with summer signings Benjamin Sesco, Brian Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Senne Lamence making a positive impact.
Amorim’s side have also cleared the dead stock to make ends meet as Man United now remain unbeaten in five games in the Premier League and get back on track.
The move moves the Premier League giants to seventh place in the table after 11 games, leaving them just one point out of the Champions League places.
There appears to be little difference between Arsenal and the best European contenders below Man City, with Neville urging his former club to aim for a top-four finish this season.
He believes this can be achieved if they are more “consistent”.
Speaking on the Gary Neville podcast, Neville said: “United should be focusing on the top four because they don’t have the players to grab that at the moment.”

“If you look at Chelsea, they’re clearly at the top of the table at the moment, and Tottenham don’t seem confident, but Liverpool don’t and it’s about winning, so consistency is key right now.
“I always think this is the biggest frustration of the last three international breaks, but then you have two or three months of games, a long winter ahead.
“We sort everyone out over the winter, and then in January we start to see where everyone is.”

It has been suggested that the Red Devils could boost their hopes by making one or two signings in January, with reports saying they could target a number six and another new forward.
Amorim has refused to close the door on Man United making reinforcements during the winter transfer window.
“We have to check everything and what happened with Ben (Sesco),” Amorim said after United’s 2-2 draw with Spurs.
“Of course there would be problems[with AFCON]but we already knew that.
“It will be difficult to manage that situation, but let’s improve the team and see if we can fix something when the window opens. Until then, we have to take our chances.”
Amorim also remained mum when asked if he was hoping to sign for Manchester United in January. He added: “Let’s see.”
Regarding his team’s performance against Spurs, Amorim admitted:
“We’re just getting started. I know that sometimes the results show people that we’re improving, but there’s a lot of work to do.”
