Nottingham Forest have ‘approached’ Roberto Mancini and Sean Dyche to replace Ange Postecoglou, according to widespread reports.
Shortly after Forest lost 3-0 to Chelsea at the City Ground on Saturday afternoon, Evangelos Marinakis brutally pulled the trigger and Postecoglou was brutally sacked within 21 minutes.
“Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that following a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect,” the club said in a statement.
“The club will have no further comment at this time.”
Following Postecoglou’s sacking, the Guardian claimed that Nottingham Forest had “approached Sean Dyche and Roberto Mancini for the vacant role”, while Fulham manager Marco Silva was also “on the shortlist”.
The newspaper added: “Mancini and Diche are both unemployed, but Marinakis is a long-time admirer of Fulham manager Marco Silva, whom he previously appointed at Olympiakos, and is another key player at the club.” Silva’s contract with Fulham expires at the end of the season and is thought to include a buyout clause of around £8m.

“Forest are prepared to pay their manager, but are taking into account profitability and sustainability regulations after sacking their second manager in two months and spending around £200m over the summer on 13 new players.”
Asked about the moment he found out Postecoglou had been sacked, Nottingham Forest captain Ryan Yates said: “After the game Ange came in and gave the match report and then I went out for a run and came back and obviously the news was out and it said he had left.”
Yates added: “We talk to people a lot in the boardroom, that’s not unusual. Of course there are times we can’t talk, but what I can say is we need to work harder as players. It starts with us on the pitch. We need to work harder as players.”
“We are still not good enough. We individually need to look at ourselves in the mirror and make things right.
“Thanks to the supporters for applauding us at the end after losing 3-0 at home.
“We’re not getting that many spots. It’s a bit humiliating for us. We need to do everything we can to change the situation.”

Yates continued: “As a professional footballer at this level, it’s only natural (to go before the media in these circumstances).”
“The results are not good enough. So far we are not really surprised by anything. It is up to us to give more to be better.”
“What I can say is that the dressing room is very united and we owe it to the fans to get the result right.”
