EXCLUSIVE: This year will see the launch of movies Hamnet, Hamlet and now…Mattbeth.
Vivien Lyra Blair, who plays Princess Leia in Disney’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series and starred in Netflix’s Bird Box, is among cast for the indie feature, which has been shooting in LA, New York, and ten other cities across America.
Murisa Harba and Matt Vlahakis co-direct the film, which is a modern-day retelling of Shakespeare’s Macbeth as a road movie on city bikes.
Starring with Lyra Blair, who is also known for 20th Century Studios’ The Boogeyman, are Michelle Merring (General Hospital), Christophe Zajac-Denek (Twin Peaks), Savannah Schoenecker (Dexter: Original Sin) and Burt Bulos (Fatal Attraction), as well as Vlahakis (My Brother Jack) and Harba (The Shattering).
“We’re thrilled and honored that Vivien is joining our amazing cast,” said directors Harba and Vlahakis in a joint statement. “Vivien brings a level of energy and enthusiasm to the production that’s unparalleled.”

Pic was written by Vlahakis, and is being produced by Harba, Vlahakis, Aida Lembo (Euphoria), Andrew Garrettson (Big Lender) and Stephen Dest (My Brother Jack) and co-producer Dan Mirvish (18½), co-founder of the Slamdance Film Festival.
