Larry Ellison of Oracle Cofounder took the title of long-time holder Elon Musk’s wealthiest person in the world.
Ellison’s net worth surpassed Tesla’s CEO on Wednesday when stocks in a spectacular few minutes of trading saw Ellison take over a third of his net worth. As of 3pm (7:00 GMT) in New York, Oracle stocks had risen 34.4% that day.

According to Bloomberg, 81-year-old Ellison is currently worth $393 billion. That’s billions more than Musk, the wealthiest person in the world in four years. One of Musk’s biggest holdings, Tesla’s stock, had fallen 14% so far this year as of Tuesday, moving in the opposite direction of Oracle.
The ranking switching came after a smash revenue report from Oracle, carrying billions of dollars orders from customers, as AI races heated up.
Ellison’s net worth is primarily derived from Oracle’s 41% stake.
Another news organization with a long history of tallying the world’s wealthiest Forbes still has musk for $439 billion. Bloomberg has made its net worth $385 billion. The difference is how the two estimate the value of mask rocket company SpaceX, among other private holdings.
Tesla shareholders are now offering Musk a $1 trillion compensation package.
Ellison’s fortune spiked on Wednesday, allowing him to fund the lifestyle of 5 million American families a year for the entire population of Florida, allowing them to quit all jobs, assuming the median US household income.
