According to Athletic’s David Ornstein, Man Utd is “closing” to the signature of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesco after choosing the Red Devils over Newcastle.
The Magpie led the race to sign Slovenia International after representing a bid that would ultimately reach 90 million euros for the Leipzig star.
Newcastle’s latest offer was reported to have been set to be accepted into Bundesliga’s outfits before Man UTD began the offer on Tuesday afternoon.
Man Utd reached 85 million euros, five million euros away from Newcastle’s offer, but the Red Devils already had the belief that Sesco wanted to join the Magpie, which could offer Champions League football.
After the German publication Bild, Ornstein was the next to breaking the news of the man’s bid with The Athletic Journalist, which the Athletic Journalist outlines details of the proposal.
Ornstein said: “Manchester United have submitted an add-on of 75 million and 10 million euros to RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesco.

‘The offer reflects the ratings of the Manchester United player, and the club’s belief is that he wants to move to Old Trafford. Leipzig has not yet responded to the proposals of Premier League clubs.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Sesko “want to take part” in Newcastle, but he didn’t appear to have completely removed the magpie from the race.
Romano writes to X: “The Manchester United Update was revealed on Tuesday night. With Newcastle’s bid now up 5 million euros, this is an important day to get a better understanding of the Shekiko Saga.
Transfer journalist Ben Jacobs has also revealed that he prefers to move beyond Newcastle to Man UTD, with updates similar to Sesco.
Jacobs revealed in X: “We understand that Benjamin Sesco has made it clear that he wants to join Manchester United tonight. Newcastle is offering improved conditions today, and their bid for Leipzig remains a strong of the two clubs.
“But now, within Manchester United, there is a growing sense of confidence that Sesco will be involved if the club reaches a deal. Manchester United’s focus is on trying to reach an agreement with Leipzig as the club believes Sesco is waiting for them.

And now Ornstein has co-in his final nails for Newcastle on Wednesday morning.
Ornstein argues that Newcastle “accepted” to Sesco but that his willingness to join Slovenia International’s Red Devils is aiming for a side victory for Reuben Amorim.
The athletic journalist added: “But Sesco wants to join Manchester United, and all involved are aware of that now. There is no club agreement yet, but the situation is moving in that direction.
“The preference for Slovenian forwards comes despite Newcastle being prepared to pay higher fees and offer Champions League football.”
