Wella announced Wednesday that it will launch its Woolaring 4 Ceramic, the first collection of smart rings that do not have a metallic finish. The company has also announced a new health panel feature that allows members to schedule blood tests directly through our app, multi-ring support, the first ever charging case.
New Oura Ring 4 Ceramic is made from zirconia ceramics. The company allows for durability and lightweight comfort. Wella describes the new ceramic collection as a combination of “style and comfort.”
Wella says that unlike painted or coated finishes, the ring’s colour comes from the natural minerals of the ceramic itself, so it remains vibrant and does not disappear over time.
Oura Ring 4 Ceramic comes with a polishing pad that can wipe off any scratches that can be caused by soft metals, such as those found on cooking utensils and dumbbells. To avoid scuffs, wella suggests wearing the ring to your non-employment to avoid unnecessary effects.
The ring comes in four colors: tide, clouds, petals, and midnight. The collection costs $499 and the membership price is $5.99 per month or $69.99 per year. The rings come in sizes 4-15.
“We want people to wear OWORA rings for more reasons. We do that with the WORSINRING 4 Ceramic Collection,” Jason Russell, USARA VP of consumer software products, told TechCrunch in an interview. “They are made from this very unique ceramic zirconia material. It is traditionally what you see in watchmaking and gemstones. And while you’re young in color and expressive, you’re also neutral enough for everyday wear.”
“And this is a product that is not really a technical product,” Russell continued. “It’s something you can visibly wear on your body. And are we thinking a lot about how to give people new ways to express themselves? Find a ring that really suits their vibe and find a way they want to convey that vibe to the world.
Regarding the new Oura Ring 4 charging case, the company says it was created according to members who are looking for a way to charge the ring while on the go.
The case stores up to 5 full ring fees and works with a USB-C cord. Both the case and wooler ring are fully charged in 90 minutes. Wella says the case also serves as a safe way to store the ring when not wearing it.
The charging case costs $99 and can be ordered later this year.
Wella also introduced a health panel in the app, allowing members to track 50 biomarkers along with daily sleep, preparation and activity data. With the Health Panel, members use the USOWARA app to book a blood test for $99 at any of the more than 2,000 Quest Diagnostics Labs across the United States.
“You could walk and get that blood test done,” Russell said. “And those results will actually come straight to you with Oura’s app. I’ll warn you when they’re ready and you’ll see the overview.
“We’ll show you what’s within range, what’s out of range. Of course, you can also see the complete comprehensive set. And there’s more to really understand “what can we do to influence some of these metrics,” Russell added.
Members can ask questions on the app, such as “What does my A1c mean at 5.7%?” Or “How can I improve my cholesterol profile?”
Ring data from Blood Biomarkers and Oura can reveal patterns and connections between lifestyle, behavior, and underlying health conditions that Wella might otherwise not be noticed.
Russell explained that the idea behind the health panel is to provide users with affordable access to comprehensive blood tests. He points out that when you visit a doctor for a particular problem, they often order lab tests and focus only on that concern when results come out.
This means that other valuable data in the results are often overlooked or difficult to interpret. That broad data, he noted, can provide important insights into your overall health and potential underlying conditions.
There are already services where you can get your own blood tests, but Wella is launching a health panel for $99 because Russell said it could be expensive and cost hundreds of dollars.
Finally, Oura announced that members can pair and switch between four different Oura Ring colors under a single account. The company says the feature allows members to match their day, whether they switch for workouts or outfits.
