Ozzy Osbourne’s family, friends and fans gather to say goodbye.
After years of fighting Parkinson’s disease, the frontman of Black Sabbath, who died on July 22 at the age of 76, was placed to rest on July 31 after being held in his hometown of Birmingham, England on July 30.
He was buried during a private funeral at his Buckinghamshire home surrounded by his family and fellow musicians, including Zakk Wylde and Marilyn Manson, according to multiple outlets.
During the public lawsuit, Ozzy’s body was transported via Haase to the city’s Black Sabbath Bridge and bench, with fans leaving flowers and messages for Prince of Darkness. The queue was attended by his wife, Sharon Osborne and her children, Amy Osborne, Kelly Osborne, Jack Osborne and Ozzy’s son Lewis Osborne, accompanied by a live brass band consisting of local artists and singers Yumbled and members of Black Sub-Bass.
“It was important for the city to support us with the appropriate and dignified compliment prior to our family’s funeral,” Birmingham Mayor Zafar Iqbal told reporters. “I know how much this moment means to his fans.”
According to a release from Birmingham City Council, Ozzy’s family, who covered the costs of the Public Memorial, threatened the news that he had passed away earlier this month, saying their beloved patriarch was “surrounded by love, along with his family.”
