EXCLUSIVE: Brandee Evans has signed with Innovative Artists for representation.
Evans is widely recognized for her portrayal of ‘Mercedes Woodbine’ in P-Valley, the hit Starz series created by Katori Hall. For her contributions to the show’s first two seasons, Evans received two NAACP Image Award nominations for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series in 2021 and 2023.
The hourlong drama that tells the story of the little-strip-club-that-could and the big characters who come through its doors – the hopeful, the lost, the broken, the ballers, the beautiful and the damned. A third season was ordered in 2022 but was delayed due to the dual WGA and SAG strikes. Production officially began last May, with cast promotions and additions announced. However, Starz has yet to set a premiere date for the long-awaited Season 3.
Evans’ other television work includes a recurring role as ‘Ava’ in Hulu’s Unprisoned, working alongside Kerry Washington and Delroy Lindo, and as ‘Sage Monroe’ in the BET+ original series The Family Business, led by Ernie Hudson.
On the film side, she starred in the Bleecker Street comedy The Fabulous Four from director Jocelyn Moorhouse, working opposite Sheryl Lee Ralph, Bette Midler and Susan Sarandon; and the indie drama Color Book from writer/director David Fortune.
On stage, she earned critical acclaim for her leading role of ‘Ladybird’ in Black Cypress Bayou at The Geffen Playhouse in 2024. From playwright Kristen Adele Calhoun, Black Cypress Bayou is set on a hot summer night in Texas, where Vernita Manifold (Kimberly Scott) summons her two daughters down to the bayou with a secret too big to keep. The richest, meanest man in town is dead, and the Manifold women know more than they’re saying. As secrets begin to surface, the bonds between the women, their town, and the legacy of their ancestors all come to a head. Amber Chardae Robinson and Brandee Evans also starred.
Evans will continue to be represented by The Lede Company.
