Phoebe Waller-Bridge is staying in business with Amazon.
The Fleabag creator has struck a new deal with the streamer – her third since breaking through with her BBC comedy co-production. However, the deal has moved from an exclusive overall pact to a first-look arrangement.
She becomes the latest high-profile auteur to move from an exclusive arrangement to a first-look pact, following the likes of J.J. Abrams who struck a similar move with Warner Bros. and Empire co-creator Lee Daniels, who extended his deal at 20th Television with a comparable arrangement.
It comes a year after the streamer greenlit her adaptation of Tomb Raider. Last month, it emerged she was narrated a two-part documentary about octopus with Amazon.
In January 2023, Waller-Bridge extended the overall deal that she initially signed in September 2019.
The latest deal with Waller-Bridge was signed in November 2024, before the departure of Amazon MGM Studios boss Jennifer Salke. Puck was first with the news.
