Real Madrid have “agreed” to swap long-time Liverpool transfer target Rodrygo for struggling Reds star Florian Wirths, according to reports.
The Reds made the perfect start to the new season by winning their first five Premier League games, but a nightmarish month saw them lose their place at the top of the table.
Liverpool have lost control of the title race to Arsenal after four consecutive Premier League defeats, and the Gunners currently sit eight points behind the Reds in third place, but Arne Slott’s side could close the gap against Manchester City on Sunday.
The Reds have returned to form with wins over Aston Villa and Real Madrid in their last few games, giving Liverpool fans hope for the rest of the season.
The team’s midfield was particularly disappointing, with Germany international Wirtz joining from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer for a huge transfer fee.
And Spanish website Defensa Central is now reporting that Real Madrid are considering a deal to take Wirtz away from Liverpool in the near future.

La Liga bosses have agreed to “swap” Rodrigo and Wilts for the Brazilian winger, who is a “long-standing target of the English club”.
After Real Madrid withdrew from Wirtz’s contract in the summer due to the huge transfer fee, it is understood that “it would not be an easy move, but neither side would be opposed to the idea.”
The newspaper added: “Florian Wirths would not have hesitated to join the merengue if Xabi Alonso’s Real Madrid had given him a chance.” I don’t regret the move to Liverpool as it was a good move, but I feel it will be difficult to adapt to the Premier League. He didn’t expect the first few months to be so difficult, but he’s slowly getting used to it. ‘
Former England international Chris Waddle analyzed Werts’ start at Liverpool, telling BestBettingSites.com: “I’ve been watching Wirtz for a few years and he’s a great talent, but he’s going through a bad period right now. He hasn’t played well for Germany and he’s struggled a little bit in the World Cup qualifiers.”

“They’ve built a team around him, which hasn’t fully materialized, but there’s no doubting his talent. He was great for Leverkusen, but expectations will be very high and his confidence will be low.”
“People forget he’s only 21, but just coming to the Premier League is tough. In Germany he has more time to play the ball and it’s 160mph for him now. He needs to get up to speed, but I don’t know how easily he’s adapted to his new life off the pitch. If people are patient, he’ll be fine.”
“Start at Marseille was bad. For months people were questioning my contract and my price tag and then everything suddenly clicked. I was ‘Magic Chris’ but before that I was almost wiped out. He just needs to calm down and get used to the physical league.”
