EXCLUSIVE: Shout! Studios has acquired all U.S. and Canadian rights to Robin and the Hoods, a family adventure film starring up-and-comer Darcey Ewart (Prancer: A Christmas Tale), Naomie Harris (Moonlight) and Gwendoline Christie (Severance), from Epsilon Film.
Details as to the release plan were not disclosed.
The film follows Robin (Darcey Ewart), the bright-eyed leader of a group of kids, the Hoods, who’s fired up by her imagination and loves to play fantasy games on a patch of land they nickname The Kingdom. While their biggest concern is a rival gang looking to take over their domain, things get serious when plans emerge to develop the area that’s their playground into a new leisure facility for the town. Faced with the ruthless spokesperson Clip-Board (Harris), Robin and her friends must find a way to save their play area before it’s too late.
Mark Williams (Harry Potter franchise), Tom Goodman-Hill (Rebecca), and Morgana Robinson (The Witches) also star in the pic, directed by Phil Hawkins (Prancer: A Christmas Tale), which has just been announced as a selection of the Bentonville Film Festival, after screening at Belmont World Film Festival, Providence Children’s Film Festival, and Boston Kids Film Festival.
Stuart Benson and Paul Davidson penned the script for the Sky Original. The film is produced by Claudia Bluemhuber for Silver Reel and Matt Williams for the UK’s Future Artists Entertainment. Executive producers for Silver Reel are Alexander Jooss, Florian Dargel, and Karol Griffiths.
“We’re thrilled to be adding ROBIN AND THE HOODS to our exciting lineup of family films at Shout!,” said EVP Family Entertainment Melissa Boag. “This fresh, imaginative retelling of the Robin Hood story offers action and emotion and reinforces lessons about the power of standing up for what is right.”
The deal was brokered by Jordan Fields on behalf of Shout! Studios and by Julia Weber on behalf of Epsilon Film.
