According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United needed “crazy” to fire head coach Reuben Amorim after the Sunderland game.
Amorim was putting a lot of pressure towards Saturday’s home match against Sunderland, suggesting it was a “must-see” game for head coaches.
Man Utd has also been struggling to the game after losing three of six Premier League matches and is also struggling with the embarrassing Carabao Cup exit at the hands of League 2 side Grimsbytown.
So the Sunderland match was huge as Amorim and the Company looked to boost morale. Mason Mount and Benjamin Sesco scored in a 2-0 victory, earning three points valuable.
This result moves the Red Devils to a tenth at the table, but Amorim is one of his favorites to become the next Premier League manager who has been looted this season.
Nevertheless, Romano revealed the “plan” of the man’s UTD following the Sunderland match.
“What’s going on is that Man Utd won the match against Sunderland and closed all speculation for Ruben Amorim for at least the next few weeks.

“New goalkeeper Senne Runmen has finally started and got a nice seat, and it’s a very good start for Runmen and a very good result for Amorim.
“It was a human plan unless something completely crazy happened, like lost, I don’t know, like 3 or 4 or 5-0. For example, if you lose a game, 1-0, 2-1, 3-2, you don’t know that. Amorim wasn’t fired.”
In a report linking Man Utd with Gareth Southgate, Romano added:
“I basically spent the last 10 days telling Gareth Southgate that he belongs to the media, but there were no specific negotiations between Man UTD and Southgate or his representative.
“There’s a very good relationship between Southgate and Ineos, but there’s never been any negotiations and Man United wanted to show support for Amorim.”

Rasmus Hojlund, like Marcus Rashford, has been enjoying the Renaissance since lending Man Utd, scoring four goals in six games for Serie A Side Napoli.
Now, Romano explains why the permanent move in 2026 is already “almost guaranteed.”
“For Hojlund, I say Naples’ intentions are very clear,” Romano continued.
“Aside from the purchase obligations included in the transaction, for 44 million euros – Napoli wants to keep the player. Napoli trusts Hosjlund and they see him as part of a long-term project.
“This is a loan with a potentially mandatory purchase option, but it is almost guaranteed, although it is viewed as a permanent future transfer by the EU parties involved in this transaction.”
