EXCLUSIVE: Ronnie Rowe Jr. (Star Trek: Discovery, Reacher) has been cast as a series regular in the new USA Network series Anna Pigeon, working opposite the previously announced lead, Tracy Spiridakos. Production is currently underway in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Anna Pigeon (Spiridakos) is a former city slicker who became a park ranger after a devastating loss changed the trajectory of her life forever. While Anna tries to outrun her demons, her focus turns to solving crimes that have taken place within national park grounds, no matter who or what gets in her way. The series is based on the novels by Nevada Barr.
Rowe Jr. will play Frederick Stanton, an FBI agent and charismatic wanderer who chases crimes through national parks and keeps his cool, except when it comes to ranger Anna Pigeon.
This is the second new scripted series from USA Network, following The Rainmaker, starring John Slattery, premiering on August 15. The Rainmaker marked the network’s first new scripted series in a while as part of a planned relaunch as a destination for scripted originals.
Lea Thompson directs and executive produces the 10-episode season alongside Brebner, Todd Berger, Brett Burlock, Sonia Hosko, Julie Di Cresce, Peter Emerson, Gordon Gilbertson, Tom Cox and Jordy Randall. Leslie Cowan is producing. Produced by Cineflix Studios, December Films and Seven24 Films. Cineflix Rights is the exclusive worldwide distribution partner. In Canada, Anna Pigeon is Bell Media’s first co-commission with Versant’s USA Network.
Rowe Jr. recently completed his fourth season on the Paramount+ series Star Trek: Discovery and can currently be seen in the third season of Reacher for Amazon Prime. He was recently a series regular in the BET+ Limited Series The Porter, which netted him a Canadian Screen Award Nomination for Best Actor in a Drama Series. He also had a leading role in the Hallmark TV movie, Jingle Bell Bride, and a series regular role in BET’s In Contempt.
His big screen credits include The Man From Toronto opposite Woody Harrelson and Kevin Hart, as well as the 2020 TIFF feature film Akilla’s Escape, for which he was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role. Rowe Jr. was also a lead in the feature film Black Cop in 2017. He is repped by Buchwald, Link Entertainment and The Characters Agency.
