A24 has released the trailer for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, the comedic drama starring Rose Byrne that won her the top acting award at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year after its Sundance premiere. The studio is eyeing an October release.
Written and directed by Mary Bronstein, the plot centers on Linda (Byrne), who with her life crashing down around her attempts to navigate her child’s mysterious illness, her absent husband, a missing person, and an increasingly hostile relationship with her therapist.
Byrne won the Silver Bear for best leading performance at Berlin for the role, which was based on Bronstein’s real-life experiences as a mother.
“The seed of it came from me having a very stressful experience with my daughter’s health when she was 7 years old,” she told Deadline at Sundance. “The way I started dealing with it at the time was that I started writing this movie with no expectation of what it would be.”
The film also stars Conan O’Brien, Danielle Macdonald, Christian Slater and A$AP Rocky.
