Ruben Amorim challenged Manchester United to “be better” despite saving the Red Devils in their last Premier League match.
United drew 2-2 in the league match with Nottingham Forest, ending their winning streak at three. The Red Devils led 1-0 at the end of the first half thanks to Casemiro’s goal.
However, Forest scored twice at the start of the second half to take a two-goal lead, and although United came from behind with a goal from Amad Diallo with nine minutes left in regulation time to seal a draw, they were unable to add a fourth to their winning streak.
There are suggestions that Amad’s goal was the best goal that would be scored all season. He volleyed the ball from the edge of the box and it drifted into the right side of Forest’s net.
It was Amad’s first goal of the season, with two assists in a deeper role than before he joined United, namely that of wing-back.
However, the Ivorian is required to be even better than he currently is and the manager feels he can do more.
“Amad has a lot of talent. We have a lot of young, talented players. He can get better and play more consistently. You could see in the first half that he had some chances. He has the potential to be even better.”

Amorim said of the game as a whole: “If you think about the game, we lost control for five minutes. If we had been in the situation we are in these days (winning 1-0 and losing 2-1), we would have suffered more than we did today.”
“My feeling is that we played well, but let the energy drop a little bit. When we have full energy, we are a better team. The players are giving it their all, but we have the potential to be better.”
“Sometimes you have moments like this. In the end we gave up two points, so we need to get three points in the next game.”
Pundit Nedum Onuoha picked this up and said: “What we see from Manchester United is a sense of confidence. They didn’t panic when they were down 2-1 and they believe they can win this game now. This is something you didn’t see a few weeks ago.”
