QUIT, Ecuador (AP) — U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Thursday that the US has designated two Ecuadorian gangs as foreign terrorist groups in its Trump administration’s latest move on the cartel.
The announcement came when Rubio traveled to Ecuador to meet his leader on a trip to Latin America this week. This was overshadowed by a US military strike against similarly designated gangster Tren de Aragua, which raised local concerns about whether the Trump administration would do so. Strengthen military activities to combat drug trafficking and illegal transition.
Two new nominees, Los Lobos and Los Coneros, have been blamed for much of the violence that has begun since the Covid-19 pandemic. Rubio said the designation would bring “all kinds of options” to help the US government work with the Ecuadorian government to crack down on these groups.
It includes the ability to kill them, and it also helps to share intelligence when taking action against US real estate and bank accounts for those with ties to group members and criminal organizations.
Rubio called them “these sinister animals, these terrorists.”
Rubio’s meeting in Quito continues on Thursday I’ll talk to Mexican leaders a day ago It was cast a shadow by a suspicious US military strike Tren de Aragua Southern Caribbean drug runner.
The Trump administration claims it targeted a Venezuelan drug-running ship with crew members Tren de Aragua. US officials say the ship’s cargo was aimed at the US, and the strike killed 11 people.
Rubio defended the lawsuit and offered justification other than saying that the boat poses an “immediate threat” to the United States, that Trump stopped, arrested the crew, arrested the crew, and chose to “bloat it” rather than following standard procedures to seize contraband.
“The blockage doesn’t work,” Rubio said Wednesday. “Instead of stopping it with the president’s order, we exploded it. And it’s going to happen again. Maybe it’s happening now, I don’t know, but the point is, the US president is going to go to war with a narcoterrorist organisation.”
The strike has received a complicated response From leaders around Latin America where the history of US military intervention and gunboat diplomacy is still fresh. Like Mexican officials, many were careful not to condemn the attack completely, but emphasized the importance of the warning that protecting US sovereignty and expanding US military involvement could indeed backfire.
Mexican Foreign Secretary Ramon de la Fuente spoke with Rubio to reporters to highlight his country’s preference for “non-intervention, peaceful conflict resolution solutions.”
Ecuador has its own issues with drug trafficking, and even under the Trump administration, Destinations that could be deported Non-Ecuadorian immigrants from the United States. US authorities say they want to secure an agreement with Ecuador that would accept such deportation, but the position of negotiations with Quito was not clear.
Daniel Novore, President of Ecuadoron Thursday, Rubio thanked the US for its efforts to “actually eliminate the threat of terrorists.” Before their meeting, Rubio said on social media that the US and Ecuador are “lining up as important partners in ending illegal immigration and fighting cross-border crime and terrorism.”
According to the latest UN Drug Report, various countries in South America, including Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, have reported greater cocaine attacks than 2021 than in 2021, but have not given Venezuela the oversized role the White House has had in recent months.
“The impact of increased cocaine trafficking has been felt, especially in Ecuador, and in recent years we have seen a wave of deadly violence from both local and transnational criminal groups, particularly Mexico and the Balkans,” the report states.
Violence has skyrocketed in Ecuador as drug traffickers expanded their operations domestically. I used the country’s banana industry.
The South American country is the world’s largest banana exporter, shipping approximately 6.5 million tons (7.2 million tons) per year by sea. Traffickers are the perfect vehicle for finding containers filled with bananas and smuggling products.
Furthermore, the Mexican, Colombia and the Balkans cartels used the US dollar and settled in Ecuador due to weak laws and systems.
Ecuador has also been prominent in the global cocaine trade after undergoing political changes in Colombia over the past decade. Colombia’s Coca Bush Fields is approaching the border with Ecuador. Criminal Group Dividing It is well known for the Spanish acronym FARC after the demobilization of the Colombian Revolutionary Army of the rebel group in 2016.
Rubio is also visiting the Andean countries to oppose close ties and dependence on China.
