EXCLUSIVE: Phoenix-based multicultural film and animation outfit Sandoval Studios is working on an adaptation of The Case For Miracles in collaboration with author Lee Strobel and Harper Collins Christian Publishing.
The best-selling 2018 work sees former investigative journalist Strobel turn his skills to getting to the bottom of whether miracles really happen in a project that takes him across the U.S. as he interviews scholars and experts on the subject.
It is among a trio of high-profile projects currently underway at the company founded by the award-winning Sandoval brothers in 2020.
The outfit has also unveiled a currently untitled documentary about Guatemalan Christian music group Miel San Marcos, retelling the story of the three brothers from San Marcos, Guatemala, who went from playing music in cornfields to selling out the iconic Madison Square Garden.
Sandoval Studios is also working on a third feature, Defying Gravity: The Legend of Steve Caballero, which will combine exclusive footage and insider perspectives to tell the inspiring story of world-champion skateboarder Caballero, celebrating his profound impact on skate culture and the footwear industry.
“At Sandoval Studios, we believe in films that move others in a transcendent way,” said Mani Sandoval. “These films will not only entertain; they will inspire hope and lift up meaningful stories from all walks of life.”
Sandoval Studios is partnering with JG Film and Television, David C Cook and Integrity Music on the Miel San Marcos, leveraging their extensive global networks to help promote and connect the work with international audiences. The company will also partner with JG Film and Television on Defying Gravity, in a strategic alliance aimed at extending the film’s reach.
The company’s leadership team comprises Director Mani Sandoval, producers Gil Sandoval and Adam Hastings, as well as partners Daniel Sandoval and Joshua Ledezma.
“Supporting filmmakers, studios, and distributors for the past 15 years has equipped us to realize our dream of making films,” said Hastings. “Years of hard work and passion for film and storytelling has inspired us to take this moment and lift up others’ stories that need to be told.”
As part of its dedication to international storytelling, Sandoval Studios is also launching De La Roca, a faith-based content aggregation, production and distribution label in partnership with Miercoles Entertainment.
This initiative is aimed at amplifying diverse voices and narratives that resonate with audiences in Mexico, the rest of Latin America and around the world.
“The expertise and ability to distribute films and content beyond just North America makes Miercoles the ideal partner for us. We have long dreamed of distributing our films to LATAM and beyond, we’re grateful for them and the paths they have forged around the world,” said Gil Sandoval.
