Alan Shearer believes Liverpool forward Mohamed Sarah is currently “suffering” as he is now trying to find the right balance after the Reds spent a big summer.
The Reds have begun their season. ArneSlot’s defending champions won the league top by winning all five of the Premier League opening fixtures.
However, during a nightmare week, they lost three times when Crystal Palace, Galatasaray and Chelsea began to put a little pressure on the champions.
There’s a consensus that the slot side hasn’t been at their best even in their early wins this season, as Liverpool head coaches are trying to fit into a new talent of £446 million since their summer transfer period.
And Shearer, a former Newcastle United striker, believes Sarah is now “suffering” with all the new faces during the summer transfer.
Shearer said the rest is football. “Because for years, everything, or most of Liverpool, have been around Sarah, so when you score 25, 30, 35 goals, you can get away with certain things.

“But there’s a lot going on in that moment in Liverpool, in that they’re trying to put Isaac in, or (Florian) put wirtz in, or put in ekitike, or try to find the balance of the fullback he’s in.
“And there’s no doubt about that, as he’s suffering a bit in the moment to give Mo a little more protection when he’s not back.”
Fellow expert Gary Reinker claims that Sarah is “missing” Trent Alexander Arnold, who will leave Liverpool and join Real Madrid in the summer.
Lineker added: “In terms of creativity, like the rest, I think they really lack torrents. Before that, sometimes torrents will move forward and perhaps they will be exposed defensively.
“But it’s impossible to trade him for you to go the other way. There’s no other player I can think of in world soccer where he plays that position (right back) in the way he plays it offensively.
“I also think Mo (Salah) is missing him. That connection they had.
“You have to say it’s worth his weight in the money going forward, and I’ve always stopped worrying about him (Alexander Arnold) making some weird little mistakes defensively.

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney believes Sarah’s ego may have been hurt by the arrival of Alexander Isaac, Hugo Ekitique and others.
Speaking about the show at BBC Sport, Rooney said:
“The top players have ego and Mo Salah has been one of the best players in the league for a long time.
“I think last week, when it worked, you showed you were scoring goals and winning the game.
“I know he doesn’t always go back and defend, but in Chelsea’s game, his fullback is torn apart and he’s watching.”
Rooney added: “I know that players like Van Dick and Allison weren’t playing, but the dressing room leader should tell him you need to help with that, and for me, that was a concern.
“In my opinion, he seemed a bit lost last week.”
