Liverpool manager Arn Slott will be under huge pressure at Anfield if they lose Saturday’s game against Nottingham Forest, according to Don Hutchison.
The Reds started the season in great fashion with five wins in their opening five games, but it’s been downhill for the team in the slot since then.
Liverpool have since lost five of their last six Premier League games, dropping to eighth in the table, one place above Manchester United.
The Reds will aim to open the season on Saturday afternoon against Nottingham Forest, who are 19th in the Premier League despite having four points from their last two games under manager Sean Dyche.
But Hutchison believes defeat against Forest at Anfield on Saturday will ring alarm bells within Liverpool’s hierarchy.
Asked if the loss put Slott’s job in doubt, Hutchison told www.sportscasting.com: “To be fair, the loss against Forest will make things a bit more difficult for Slott. We can’t sugarcoat it. Liverpool are playing a lot of games now and are playing quite a few teams from the bottom of the table. So this is a period where we can build up a winning streak and if we can do that we can get Liverpool back into the top two and three.

“If he doesn’t, he starts to become a guy under pressure, because now is the time to come up with a plan and show everyone that plan. How do you get all the great players on the same team? We’re all trying to guess what kind of system, what combinations, what individuals we’re going to go after.
“Slot is a very good coach and we have to figure that out. So there’s going to be pressure to answer your question, but I still have a lot of faith in him.”
Asked if former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp might be tempted to return to Anfield, Hutchison added: “No, I don’t know. I think Jurgen knows more about him. If that were the conversation, I think Jurgen would tell Liverpool to hang in there and give him time.”
I think Jurgen is the type of guy who is not all about himself. Jurgen is very honest. He definitely wants to do what’s best for himself and Liverpool. So he will probably tell the board to be patient and stay with Arne Slott. Right now, there’s no one on the list of managers worth firing Slot. ”

Asked who comes to mind when summer signing Florian Wertz comes to mind, Hutchison continued: “You look at players like Bernardo Silva, you look at players like David Silva, but there’s no reason why Florian Wertz can’t be more than that player. He’s got more attributes. He’s a better runner, he can outrun players, but I think once he gets his footing he’ll be fine.”
“Bernardo Silva on the weekend had great ability and always had the ability to stop. He’s not afraid to get on the ball and run a five-yard pass because he doesn’t care about expectations or pressure. He’s doing what’s right for the team. There’s kind of a pressure on Wirtz to create magic with every touch, nutmeg, trick, whatever.”
“Once he feels comfortable wearing Liverpool’s number seven and feels comfortable just lending the ball to someone else, everything starts to fall into place. He could easily become David Silva or Bernardo Silva.”
