For nearly a decade since becoming a digital time capsule of your life moments, Snapchat has been set to price its memory features. The company announced last week that it would close out its free memory storage at 5GB.
If your memories exceed the limit, you will need to export them or sign up for one of Snapchat’s new memory storage plans to save them.
The company told TechCrunch in an email that the introductory storage plan offers up to 100GB of storage for $1.99 a month. SnapChat+ users get up to 250GB of storage as part of a subscription that costs $3.99 per month, while Snapchat Platinum users get 5TB as part of a subscription that costs $15.99 per month.
If you exceed the limit but do not sign up for the plan, the oldest snap will be saved and the most recent snap will be deleted and remain within the storage limit.
The company offers users 12 months of temporary storage for memory beyond the 5GB limit, but some users have opted to actively export memories instead of making payments.
Here we will explain two options for storing Snapchat memories.
Export Snapchat memory to your device’s camera roll
One way to save your Snapchat memories is to download them to your camera roll. This can be done directly from a mobile phone, but is limited to 100 batches at a time. This can be a time-consuming task if you have thousands of saved snaps.

However, this might be a good way to select the snap you actually want to save.
This is what you need to do:
Open the Snapchat app and select the Memory icon next to the camera button. Tap the Select option in the top right corner. Select up to 100 memories you want to keep. Tap the “Export” button that appears at the bottom right of the screen. Select Download and save to your camera roll.
Repeat this process to save another batch of 100 memory.
Download Snapchat data
If you don’t want to spend time exporting memory in 100 batches, you can use Snapchat’s “Download Data” tool to save memory archives and send emails in .zip files.
This is what you need to do:
Open the Snapchat app and go to your profile. Tap the Settings icon in the top right corner of the screen. Scroll down to the “My Data” option. Select Memory, HTML files, and JSON file options. (Unless you want to save additional information, such as chat history, user data, etc., please remove the options below. It may be difficult to find memories later in the .Zip file.) Tap Next. When prompted to select a date range for the export, select the All Time option. Please check your email address. Tap Send.
The time it takes to receive data may vary depending on the amount you store.
