EXCLUSIVE: Hunter Sansone is to star in romantic feature The Heart Brake.
Sansone has landed the male lead in the film, which is directed by Lance Smith from a script he co-wrote with Chuck Fusca.
Shooting in Nashville, Tennessee, the film also stars Brittany Curran, Beverly D’Angelo, Joey Lawrence and Courtney D’Angelo with Fusca and Rachael Thompson co-starring and WWE stars Mick Foley and Daria Berenato appearing in supporting roles. Comedian DJ Pryor has also joined.
Based on an original idea from exec producers Gus and Carrie Romero, the story is centered around Julia Winters, who after surviving a sudden cardiac arrest, is forced back to her Tennessee hometown, where Christmas never fades and old wounds still linger. To truly move forward, she must confront the past she thought she’d left behind— and the future she never saw coming.
Sansone starred as a series regular on The CW’s Stargirl, playing Cameron Mahkent across three seasons. He was also in Disney+ movie Safety and is starring alongside Lily James in Swiped, inspired by the story of Whitney Wolfe Herd, the founder and former CEO of online dating platform Bumble, which is in Official Selection at TIFF.
The Heart Brake comes from Abstracct Creative and MarcoBox Studios with Carrie and Gus Romero will executive produce along with Smith and Fusca. Brian Yuran and Trey McLarnon are producing. Delaney Blanton is casting and will also serve as a producer.
“It’s been a blast stepping into the world Chuck and Lance created,” said Sansone. “Their script gave me all the holiday nostalgia, and I’m honored to be part of it.”
Brian Yuran added, “Hunter is the perfect embodiment of our male lead, Luke. He has that charisma that just brings audiences in.”
Sansone is repped by CESD, Luber Roklin Entertainment and Ryan Levine at Jackoway Austen Tyerman. Pryor is managed by Mechelle Mason.
