The Alliance of Women Directors (AWD) has unveiled its list of mentors for its latest iteration of its Rising Director Fellowship.
In February, the group revealed the list of nascent directors that would participate in the yearlong program. They include Mora Carew, Robin Cloud, Lisa Cole, Saray Bravo Guidetti, Dana Nachman, Jenn Shaw, and Allex Tarr.
The AWD has now revealed directors including Steve McQueen (12 Years a Slave) and Reed Morano (The Handmaid’s Tale) will be among this list of mentors. Other directors helping this new group of hopefuls include Mike Mills (20th Century Women), Niki Caro (Whale Rider), Amber Sealey (Out of My Mind), Susan Johnson (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before) and Erica Tremblay (Reservation Dogs)
At the end of the program, these young filmmakers will have a completed feature script, pitch materials, and filmed proof of concept.
“We are honored to welcome such an accomplished group of directors as mentors to the 2025 Rising Director Fellowship,” said Kylie Eaton, Interim Executive Director of AWD. “Having these luminaries guide our Fellows is a powerful vote of confidence in the 2025 cohort, and a testament to AWD’s mission to create meaningful industry access and long-term career momentum for women and gender-expansive directors.”
