Jorden Myrie (Sherwood), Nicolò Pasetti (Bel Canto), Ricky Staffieri (The Bear) and Brian J. Smith (Sense8) are set as series regulars opposite Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash in The Boys‘ upcoming prequel Vought Rising. They join previously announced regulars Will Hochman and Elizabeth Posey in the Prime Video series. Details on their roles are being kept under wraps. Production is set to begin later this month.
Ackles and Cash will reprise their characters from The Boys, Soldier Boy and Stormfront, respectively.
The Boys‘ executive producer Paul Grellong is set as showrunner of the one-hour drama offshoot from franchise developer Eric Kripke.
Vought Rising is “a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought,” Kripke and Grellong said when the series was ordered last summer.
Ackles’ Soldier Boy and Cash’s Stormfront have similar origin stories. Soldier Boy is the first American non-aging Supe, created by Frederick Vought during World War II. Stormfront was Frederick Vought’s first successful test subject for Compound V and she married him before they moved to the U.S.
Cash and Ackles also serve as producers. Paul Grellong serves as showrunner and executive producer. Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Ori Marmur, Pavun Shetty, Ken Levin, Jason Netter, Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, Michaela Starr, and Jim Barnes also serve as executive producers on the series. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, in association with Kripke Enterprises, Point Grey Pictures, and Original Film.
Myrie can be seen in a regular role in the second season of Sherwood and as a lead in The Strays, Nathaniel Martello-White’s first feature, produced by The Bureau for Netflix. He also appears in the third season of Bridgerton. Myrie is repped by 42 Management & Production.
Pasetti can be seen in RAI event series Belcanto and Cuori. He also starred in AMC+ series That Dirty Black Bag as Deputy Sheriff Martin, recurred on Netflix’s period legal drama The Law According to Lidia Poët and appeared as Milan fashion boss Rocco Carbone in season 2 of HBO’s Industry. He’s repped by Inicio in the UK.
Staffieri is best known as Ted Fack on FX’s The Bear, on which he also serves as a co-executive producer. He’s repped by Brillstein Entertainment Partners, Independent Artist Group and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
Smith is perhaps best known for his role as Will Gorski in the Wachowski’s Netflix series, Sense8. Most recently, he starred opposite Kate Mara in the Hulu limited series Class of ’09, and in the CBC limited series Essex County. He’s repped by Innovative Artists and Principal Entertainment LA.
