EXCLUSIVE: The Comeback Season 3 has added four to its main cast: Tim Bagley (Somebody Somewhere), Matt Cook (Man with a Plan), Jack O’Brien (Becoming Mike Nichols), and Ella Stiller (Happy Gilmore 2).
Character details are under wraps for O’Brien and Stiller. Bagley and Cook both played minor roles in the show’s second season — Frank and Ivan, respectively — though it’s not yet clear if they’re reprising or playing new characters.
A cult hit HBO comedy from Patrick King and Lisa Kudrow, in which the latter stars, which first debuted 20 years ago, The Comeback announced comeback plans for a third and final season in June. Kudrow will of course return, as will series regulars Dan Bucatinsky, Laura Silverman, and Damian Young.
Production is underway now in Los Angeles, with the season to debut on HBO and HBO Max in 2026, more than a decade following the premiere of Season 2. In addition to creating the series, King and Kudrow exec produce alongside John Melfi and Bucatinsky.
The Comeback is a mockumentary documenting the life of Valerie Cherish (Kudrow), a washed-up sitcom actress from the ’90s, who desperately attempts a career revival. No word yet on the plot of Season 3. Previous seasons scored four Emmy nominations, including two for the performance of Kudrow

Soon to be seen in Prime Video’s Carrie miniseries, he is represented by Artists & Representatives and Framework Entertainment.
Perhaps best known for starring alongside Kudrow’s Friends co-star Matt LeBlanc on the CBS sitcom Man with a Plan, Cook has recently been seen in films like Champions, The Greatest Beer Run Ever, and Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers. He is repped by Michelle Jannone, Innovative Artists, and Lichter, Grossman, Nichols.
Emmy-nominated as exec producer of the HBO doc Becoming Mike Nichols, O’Brien is a three-time Tony Award winner best known for his work behind the scenes. He’s directed and produced renditions of The Full Monty, Hairspray, The Piano Lesson, and more, and is represented by CAA.
Stiller’s credits include And Just Like That…, Happy Gilmore 2, Hubie Halloween, and Escape at Dannemora. Upcoming, she’ll also be seen in the Bobby Farrelly comedy Driver’s Ed. She is represented by Strand Entertainment and Buchwald.
