Chelsea reportedly “managed to offer” the defender, but Fabrizio Romano provided the latest updates from Alejandro Garnacho and Zabi Simons.
Naturally, the Blues are active in the market this summer as they strengthened their teams before and after their Club World Cup victory.
Among the notable signatures by Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens and Jorrel Hato, Chelsea is second in the ranking of Europe’s biggest spenders this summer, and should surpass £300 million by the time the window closes.
Enzo Maresca’s side remains in the market to attack reinforcements, and their focus has been widely reported on signing Garnacho and Simons in the coming weeks.
Reports show that Bruce has entered the market for another new centre-back without Levicorwill for most of the season after suffering an ACL injury.

Chelsea has linked to several potential options, and Inter Milan’s outstanding Alessandro Bastoni has been targeted this summer.
The 26-year-old has been one of the best defenders in Serie A over the past few seasons, and a report from Italian outlet Gazzetta claims that Chelsea tried to lure him into the Premier League.
While Inter Milan is on a contract until 2028, they can ask Bastoni for a large fee, Chelsea tested their resolve with “some sort of offer” worth around 50 million euros.
However, Bastoni is unlikely to move to Chelsea as the report shows that it has decided to “graciously refuse” a potential switch to Stamford Bridge.

Regarding Garnacho and Simons, Romano has made it clear that one thing must happen for Chelsea to sign the two attackers.
Romano explained: “Zabi Simons scored in Leipzig today and he began to show his skills again. He posted on social media with the caption “Ring Ring.”
“Zabi Simons wants to go to Chelsea. This is not a mystery. We’ve been saying it for a long time. The reality is that Chelsea must sell players before signing players like Alejandro Garnacho and Zabi Simons.
“There have been rumors about Bayern and Manchester City. What I can assure you is that Xavi Simons have wanted to go to Chelsea since July. He’s waiting for Chelsea. That’s the situation.”
